My Dearest Colleagues of Class of ’72,
I consider it a privilege and an honour to have this opportunity of addressing my dearest fellow members of Royal College Class of ’72, as a mate who ‘ Learnt of Books and Men ’ along with you at our prestigious Alma Mater since our childhood as kids, way back in 1963.
As we are all aware, Class of ’72 has come a long way since1987 having a proud history, strengthening day by day due to invaluable efforts of our predecessors who gave life and momentum to bring it up throughout the years to what it is now. Their dedication and enthusiasm is now highly appreciated not only among our own batch mates but by the entire fraternity of Royalists, past and present.
Being possibly the batch which boasts of the largest membership, we have contributed immensely towards the betterment of our Alma Mater in numerous ways and I pledge that it will be continued to the best of our abilities during my tenure as the President.
With a series of mega events lined up to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of Royal College in 2010, we as Class of ’72 will also make its contributions in best possible manner and extend our fullest co-operation to make these events a success.
Our main activities for this year will be focused on launching of new projects on Community Development and Social Welfare covering North, South, East and West. We are confident that with the support of the Class of ’72 Diaspora playing leading roles in Sri Lanka as well as in many other parts of the world, we will be able to complete these projects to reach the highest standards for the benefit of various communities.
My dearest colleagues, let us not forget the fact that the secret behind great success of our “Royal College Class of ’72” has been the incredible unique bond and unity we always have as brothers of one family, irrespective of Race, Religion, Cast or Creed and my mission will be to further strengthen this bond and unity across the world during my tenure of office.
May I please be permitted to conclude my message by thanking all of you ever so much, including my dearest buddies scattered all over the world, for the confidence placed in me by appointing me to this coveted position and entrusting the enormous responsibility and task of taking Class of ’72 way forward. I am confident that all of you will rally round Class of ’72 and join me in marching forward hand-in-hand together as one, to accomplish my mission and to take our ever loving “Class” to a destination beyond all our expectations.
